‘HUITZILOPOCHTLI’ RING

Materials: tin, copper, Mexican pesos

This ring is part of the three ring set named ‘El Puño De La Patria.’

When the three rings are combined they represent the Mexican Flag.

The EAGLE in the Mexican flag represent the mesoamerican God: HUITZILOPOCHTLI. According to the legend HUITZILOPOCHTLI told the MEXICAS that he would give them a sign of where to build him a great grand city. The sign came to be HUITZILOPOCHTLI in the form of an eagle perched on top of a cactus devouring a snake on a small island in the middle of a great lake. This spot is where the Mexicas built the great city of Tenochtitlán.
